It sounds like a little thing that will make the world’s biggest drug company a little less than popular in the long run.
But that’s the reality of the world’s top-selling drug, Viagra.
The little blue pill is already in its second year of market dominance after Pfizer’s Viagra. Pfizer, which was once the world’s biggest drug maker, saw its sales grow by about 40% in 2016, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO).

“The first thing that stands out about this new pill is that it is a very well-tolerated treatment,” said Michael DeWitt, an ICOS analyst who studies pharmaceuticals.
“Viagra is a very effective treatment for the symptoms of erectile dysfunction.”
The new drug is not a drug of its kind, but an alternative to Viagra. Pfizer has been using sildenafil citrate, an angina drug, in the treatment of erectile dysfunction for many years.
Sildenafil is a drug used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, a type of high blood pressure in the lungs.
